if your car is an automatic, detune it and give it to her. my other hhr ss,my wife drive,is very forgiving. it's an auto and i get in it only when i want to relax and cruise. for god sake, this is not a corvette lol. now,as far as getting the replacement...GENESIS!!! if people would only be patient, aftermarket for this car will be huge. all major tuner companies have one and doing r&d. rwd, good gas mil.,sporty, good price,100k warrenty, turbo 4 or v6.(i would get the turbo)

I didn't think that they were going to bring the G8 back as a Chevy...I thought that was only for police interceptors...

IMO, i'd go for an LT or LS HHR as well. SS might have too much power, even detuned. Saw the new Regal GS at the Detroit Autoshow this year and it is a mighty sexy ride. Now if they just get it to mfg in the same form, they'll be in business.

Save some money, save your kid from a fast car. Get her a Saturn Astra, keep your SS.

I hope your kids realize how lucky they are.... My parents weren't going to spend more than 3k on a car for me, then ended up giving me one they already had. We were looking to get a mid 90's Grand Am. I would have LOVED anything relatively new!

Oh I hear you. I didn't own my own car until I was 22 years old, and then it was a beat up 1975 Olds 98 with over 100K miles on it, a leaky roof and mostly primer for paint. I borrowed my dad's Datsun B210 until I got out of college. I hoofed my way to classes (miles in some cases), and road my bike to and from work. My parents never game me any car. And yes, my daughter realizes she is lucky because all her friends complain to their parents that she got such a great car.

Thanks to all for their input. I seriously considered a G8 before buying the SS, and am still toying with getting a slightly used low mileage model now. I'm glad to hear that Chevy is bringing back a version.

I think the Genesis is overpriced for what you get, and I don't like some of the sheet metal on that coupe. The sedan is gorgeous but over $40K. In some ways I like the new Buick Lacrosse but it's still too much of a grandpa car. The 2011 Regal looks intriguing.

Buying my daughter a used HHR and keeping the SS is certainly a viable option.

Only the seats will change other wise what you saw is what you will get. They already sell that car as a 325 Twin Tubo V6 in Europe. We will get the 255 Turbo 4.

The plan as it is now is to offer the police package in LWB form in 2011 and offer the car in the G8 short wheel base form. GM already sells this car in the middle east as a SS.

Thing can change but the GM doument I saw last winter had it listed as a 2012 last fall.

It will be over $30K and limited.

The guy running GM North America Mark Ruess was incharge of this car and it's development. To say the least he wants it more than Lutz did.

The Regal will be a re-badged Opel Insignia. It is already being manufactured in Europe, so it should be nearly identical to what is being touted on their website and at car shows. It looks great! Understated, classy and sporty...

Apparently, it will be offered with a 6-spd manual!!!
