The Regal GS was my favorite vehicle at the Auto show this year.

Apparently, it will be offered with a 6-spd manual!!!

The six speed will be available with all engines but will only account for an expected 10-15% of sales at best.

GM will offer nothing but 6 Speeds auto or manuals in their cars once the HHR and Cobalt die. The new 6 speed has been reviewed by several and many think it may be one of the best trasaxles ever made for smoothness.

Also the car will not as of now get the AWD. It may be added later but Buick will not offer it right off.

The first year production will be built in Germany and then moved to Oshawa easrly next year. The GS will be added then. We have yet to see all that they will offer with this car. I suspect the AWD and 325 HP V6 turbo may make it later on if needed.

Watch for the TV spot Ed Whitacre is doing on GM paying off the goverment loan. at the end the Regal GS production car is in the last shot on the right.
GM has been sneeking in the new cars in their TV ads of late so keep your eyes open and things are hidden in plain site. The nose of the Caddy ATS, 2012 Malibu and other concepts were iin the last Ed spot.

So the natural thought was to give the SS to my other daughter when the time comes. But I'm having second thoughts about it for the following reason:

1) The SS will have less than 60K miles on it in a year, and I'm not sure I want to give a new driver such a relatively new car.

2) The SS is not the easiest car to drive because of the performance.

3) Cops may be all over her driving the very visible vehicle.

My other thought is to keep the SS and buy her a used car of some sort. But after reviewing used car prices these days, you can't get anything decent with <60K miles for less than $10K. And I know how well I've treated the SS, so I have confidence it will last quite a while. My GP now has $110K miles on it and is still going strong. Buying someone else's used car has been a disaster the last two times I've done it.

If I decide to give her the SS, I'm having difficulty finding another car that fulfils my needs. The SS is fast, sporty looking, has great utility and gets very good MPG. There aren't too many other vehicles (if any) on the market that can match it. Fortunately I don't absolutely need 4 doors anymore, so I have more flexibility. I would love to get a new Camaro, but I'm not sure I can lower myself into that car every day. Getting into the HHR is a piece of cake. I love the exterior of the Challenger, but the MPG sucks and the interior is so plain and boring. I don't like the new Mustang rear end.

The Subaru Impreza is good looking, but the performance sucks unless you upgrade to the turbo model, but it's still not as fast as the SS.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I just buy another HHR SS?
I will sell you my SS with just over a tick of 20K on her.

I'm holding out for a new 5.0 Mustang.

Just get her a cobalt. She will not need all of the power of the ss until she is more experienced. My first car was a lt hhr, and i moved up to the ss for my second car, so maybe when you are ready to buy a new one she can then have the ss.

Exactly why I want it. My HHR is junk (18 days in the shop last year), my Saab (GM) was junk. My wifes Honda was junk.

I'm ready for something different.

I am NOT LOYAL to any brand.

You have an sweet SS, that alot of people would love have. I would keep the SS for yourself, or store it as a toy... and buy her a nice used HHR. The HHR is a great first car, wish my dad bought me a car when i was that age.
