Where are the Mods

I got my New Victory Red HHR SS on Saturday.
Please link up any sites working on or carrying mods for the SS.

Couldn't agree more. I can only find cosmetic stuff, tints, headlight vinyl, vent visors, and emblem overlays, but where are the Sub $300 mods.

I know there are H/P Tuners for the computer ($700-$1500) but where are the mufflers, air intakes, etc.

Who is working on this? I know the car came out 6 months ago but we who own an SS need more power NOW. (said with a slight sarcastic voice)

But seriously, who IS working on this?

I know i'm gonna get burned for saying this, but why do you need more power? Exhaust and intake is fine but it is said that the most the front wheels of a car can take is 250hp beyond that it just torquesteers into a tree.

So if its for the noise, all well and good but for performance boosts, why? Not to mention they detuned the automatic on purpose to help the tranny cope, if you start pumpin up the HP how long do you think that tranny will take it?

Just my .

Talking

I am looking from a Drag Racer Perspective.

If I take it to the track I can mounts some slicks up front to eliminate a torque steer issue and as far as the tranny lasting.
I would have to agree that with out a beefed up Auto you would not want to be pushing a constant 300+ HP through it.

But in order to make a full all out 1/4 mile pass I don't think it will blow up.

The beauty of the newer hi-tech vehicles is we can set programs.
Stock for Everyday use and with a flip of a switch balls out 300+ HP

I am sure someone will offer beefed up versions if they already don't of the Automatic Transmission.

If a Neon can make a 12 second pass I don't see why an HHR SS couldn't.

Exhaust mod

Although a minor mod, Magnaflow is coming out with a cat back exhaust specifically for our SS. Part #16811 due out in about 4 weeks or so! Dont expect any great HP #'s as it is only a cat back system. Probably a few more ponies and alittle more noise!!! We'll see!!!!!

Yeah usually around 5-10 HP with a Catback depending on how free flowin the stock one already is.

I have built up a turbo car before in Stages.
I had a 2003 Mitsubishi EVO VIII
Before I had to part ways with it It was making close to 440HP at the wheels.

I am looking to get the HHR to around 280-300 at the wheels.
Should translate to a mid to low 13 Second 1/4 mile pass.

My EVO ran 12.80 when it had around 300 at the wheels
I never got a chance to get a time on it before I sold it
with the additional mods.

from what I've read on here, any gains from mods get dumbed down and the car's computer reduces the power back to stock levels. That's just what I've read (Turbofreak's posts) so I can't say for sure since I don't own an SS.

You guys need to relax. Those of us who have been around since day one ok maybe day 120 of when the hhr came out will know what I am talking about.
Any aftermarket stuff for the hhr has been slow. You guys with new HHRs are lucky because you now have stuff out there. If you want to see what is out check the supporting vendors link. That is the best place to look and also send a request to see if they can help you with what you need or want

Yes, this is what happens but there is hope. I put a Magnaflow on my 07 GXP
and I have a DashHawk and HP Tuners and can read the MAF sensor so you
can see if the exhaust helped the hp. Saw a slight increase after install when
I disconnected battery and PCM had to relearn fuel trims. HP was better for a day, then went back to about stock. It did sound VERY nice and was hardly
louder than stock.

I did the GXP wastegate mod to the HHR SS and gained a few pounds of boost over my "normal" values and over a few days about 1/2 of it has
been relearned out but it is still faster than stock.

Google "Westers Garage" . He has broken the GXP/HHR SS computer
code more than HP Tuners has so far and has a tune that modifies
boost using stock controller without any mech mods and is able to hold
20+ # of boost over whole rpm range. HP Tuners hopefully will have it
before too much longer.

Normal hot rod tricks do not work on this very modern engine unless
you can bypass the PCM nanny controls that relearn mods out.
