Kind of wehat I though on the Brembo brakes. I figured it would take at least a 17".

The standard SS brake should be ok on the 16". I still will trial fit soon.

You can't even use your spare tire on the front, If you get a flat on the front, the spare has to go on the back and put the good back on the front. Two tire changes on the side on road is gonna suck if that happens

Tire failures are rare anymore and the pressure sensors will let you know you have a issue ealry in most cases.

I don't think it will be all that long that spares will be gone all together. The Sky, Solstice and some Vette models already have the small compressor and repair kits. The MFGs all want to remove weight in the next few years and a spare is a good place to start. ALso with the advent of 18-22 inch tires it is adding weight even in a compact spare.

I carry a small compressor in each cars anymore. If it is low I just inflate it till I can get home.

Has anyone fit smaller rims on their SS yet? Whats the minimum? Would 15's clear the disc brakes? Thanks

At best a 16 on the non Brembo is reported to work. I will try this in about a weel and will post the results. The Wheel MFG said it would work.

Brembo SS will at least have to have 17" wheels due to the larger caliper.

The Malibu Hybrid also ditched the spare tire and just comes with a can of fix-a-flat.

There is a picture from rearview in this thread showing a 16" steel wheel mounted on the front of an SS. I have mine sitting in the garage and have yet to throw one on. G.B.

Oh, and for those of you considering using stock 16" steelies with the original hub caps like me, the OEM lugs nuts are like gold! I paid $60 for a set of (4) 06' HHR steel wheels and the factory bolt on hub caps off of eBay. Today it cost me $80 for (20) lug nuts. List price on these are $6 each and I got them for 10% over cost at $3.91. I probably should have looked around at some junk yards for a set of these lug nuts. G.B.

Will the stock 18" SS lug nuts work on Steelies? I am going to try to fit 15" rims on the SS. If they fit I will look around for some cool vintage hub caps, lot's of chices in 15" size's.
