Who lied? If your talking about the dealer, why would you not believe something that came from the man himself?

You hit that nail on the head Snoopy, even with rebates/incentives you couldn't get that low, unless it was a used car.

While there are other factory payments to the dealers that put their effective cost below invoice, no way would they amount to $6000. Dealers do not make nearly the same % mark-up as they did when cars sold for $3000. That's why they try all the finance (legal) kickbacks, extended warranties, etc to try and make a few more bucks. Also why service rates are so (incredibly) high these days (gotta keep the lights on I guess).

Why do you think these dealers say they will take invoice price for a car?

Walmart pays the same price that is on the shelf too.

Believe what you want to, two (2) people heard what was said (my wife and I).

You don't seem to understand, there are folks here who know (with certainty) what the dealer's actual cost is, and what the dealer told you is BS, period (why he told you that is anybody's guess). Last comment from me though.

Tooter....

You are missing the point. I am NOT doubting the salesperson told you that. I'm saying they fed you BS. And, I'll tell you straight out....I know what dealers pay for vehicles including factory to dealer incentives . That was a "fill-in" job when I worked for GM. I still have access to some of GM's websites that are Corporate ONLY (they forgot to delete my password when I retired).

But, you can believe what you want. So work your dealer and get, oh lets say, $5000-$6000 off without incentives. As others have said.....WE do know wthe actual costs.

But, your last assumption is correct, basically....

MSRP (window sticker)
Dealer Invoice (sometimes what the salepeople show stating they paid this amount for the vehicle)
Factory Invoice (what they actually paid to the GM Division for the vehicle).
