Adding radio buttons on steering wheel
I just went to my dealership and purchased 3 items.
1. wiring harness 2. switch assembly 3. switch cover All for less than $65.00 I removed the horn/airbag replaced the harness and installed the switches in less than 10 min. The only tricky part was removing the horn which I did with a 6” allen wrench that you slide through the two holes in the rear cover of the steering wheel. Easy mod, love the mute button. |
Thats a sweet deal.
Good thing you didn't set off the air bag.LOL. |
Pics?

no reprogrammong of the computer?? It was one option i wanted, but could not wait for them to find the car with exact options. Good Job , and thanks for the info!

Great idea...mine doesn't have that either. Sent this post to dealer to see what they would charge to do this as I worry about setting off the airbag.

Will post pics soon!
no reprograming needed Airbag not an issue(remove positive cable from the battery) I didn't and it went great. I did it in the dealer lot in less than 10 min [update from Moderators: removing the Positive cable from the battery is a DANGEROUS thing to do (as if you short out the + terminal to ground, you can cause a major short/battery explosion)- when disconnecting the battery ALWAYS disconnect the NEGATIVE post first.] |
i have taken the air bags out of a few car withthe battery hoooked up. There are no sensors on the steering wheel, and you are usually safe. That being said, i am gonna disconnect the battery on the HHR.. LOL

Price is right on that! Thanks for the info.
