06 HHR LT2 with 86K miles and I'm having the same issues as you guys. My mechanic is going to replace the intake and exhaust solenoids tomorrow morning. Might as well have him change the spark plugs, they have never been replaced. Let you all know what happens.

Confirming from a posting a page back from Slickrick2, the GM Parts direct website shows the solenoids have new part numbers yet again as follows:

Oldest to Newest Part numbers:
------------------------------
Intake 12628347 = 12646783 = 12655420
Exhaust 12628348 = 12646784 = 12655421

and to recap:
------------
P0010/11 refers to the INTAKE solenoid
P0013/14 refers to the EXHAUST solenoid

Thanks!

t/c light and hard shifting on my '06 since 2009. At the time my DLC wouldn't read and the idiot at auto zone cited new technology on the readers and that i needed an upgrade. *I am young woman, Daddy has always done all of my car work.

three years later i need my first smog test. Started scouring this forum.
The advice on the fuses fixed my DLC (Had previously only checked the box under the hood). Finally got a read and confirmed (by checking my code here) that I needed to replace my intake and exhaust valves. checked every where locally and finally ordered from the suggested online site. Received them very quickly. Got it done in about 30 minutes and haven't had a problem since.

In summary, You guys are awesome (Thank you Whopper for the sticky) !

hello, i have been having hard shifting problems with other shifting issues intermitanly. I have no codes and never had any since the car was new. I have replaced my TCM and had the car reprogrammed by a Chevy dealer. The shifting issues came back, I think I am going to try the solenoids but My question was, does the check engine light have to be on in order to determine if the solenoids have to be replaced? I have read all of these posts and can't determine if some people did not have codes come up and still replaced the solenoids and had positive results. I have 183,000 miles on my hhr and I have no problem investing 80 bucks for the solenoids but was just curious. thanks

The CEL may not light if the problem is intermittant during specific drive conditions. So yes, you are correct - to determine WHICH solenoid is defective, you do need the code from a lit CEL. I agree with you - at the cost of them, why not change them both anyways.

There may still be another issue other than the solenoids, but replacing them both would be a good guess, and at the very least eliminate them for future problem diagnosis.

Mine is very erratic, I have the jerk in the trans when it comes out of any gear sometimes, it seems to be stuck or something, I can almost tell when its going to happen, its like the trans is holding the other gear to long and then snaps into the next gear. The other issue is when I am going uphill my tachometer revs between 2k and 3k and seems not to select a gear. Its really weird and hope these solenoids work to help this issue. Like I said I have already replaced the TCM and had the the whole car reprogrammed by Chevy. All the time no check engine light ever comes on, and when I plug in an OBII I have no codes. that is why I am a little worried.
