Great video-makes it look very simple. Too bad GM didnt use screws to hold it in the first place, though. I guess their engineers did not realize they were so fragile.

Just throwing this info out there, after looking around all over the place for the last year or so, I finally found a place that sells just the door handle mechanism so you don't have to buy he whole panel. They have it on Rock Auto website. It's a bit pricey, but I think it'll be worth it!

Can you pull a chevy hhr 2006 interior door handle from a rear door and move it to the drivers side door instead of buying another one?

This would save buying another one and if the rear doors are rarely used they wont be missed?

Have done extensive searching across different forums and have not seen this question and possible solution asked.

I appreciate the time and work all the posters on here put into making this valuable information public.

I contribute and post answers on different forums of a different type where I take before and after photos of the problem and post my tested solution with my methodology and details.

In other words, I know and appreciate the time solution providers put into forums.

When you buy a hhr interior door handle it does not ask you for front or rear so in my opinion I would say that you can remove a working door handle from a rear door on drivers side and install on the front drivers side door without any problem.

I believe it must be from same side.

Add me to the list of amahzzed HHR owners with broken handles. My first amazement was that the unprintable thing is made of PLASTIC! My second was reading the people on this forum who have experienced the same thing. I currently have a hemostat clamped on the stub of the handle which was going to only last until I could get it replaced but HOLY COW!

I've been without the handle for around 20 months now. I took a 1/8" drillbit and drilled a hole in the top and bottom REMNANTS of the handle. Took a trusty wire coat hanger formed it into the C shape and secured it through the holes I drilled. NOT pretty but I was able to recover my mini vice grips that were previously there. LOL ... I'll get around to getting the replacement from Dorman/RockAuto ... other more pressing things to deal with since I have 201,250+ miles on it. Tranny acting up for last 6+ months now so I'm feeding the piggy bank when I can as I'm anticipating solenoid replacements. Peace OUDT...
