GMPP Intake Modification for reliability

Hi Folks, I made a modification to my GMPP Intake installation today, and it may be worthwhile for anyone else who has done this intake installation on their car. Please note on the photos the MAF feed cable marked with a blue arrow. When I installed my intake system, and plugged in the MAF connector, I noticed that the MAF bundle of wires was stretched pretty tight (from the MAF sensor to the main wire bundle trunk). This worried me, as over time the wires may pull out of the MAF connector or simply break off. I looked at various options, and discovered the simplest and cheapest would be to use a zip-tie around the larger main wire bundle to take just enough tension off the MAF wire bundle. I have noted the zip-tie location with orange arrows. It is all kind of hard to see as so much is black. I hope this helps someone. Please PM or e-mail me if you need more info. God Bless, Marc

I was thinking the same thing! How many miles are on that? 12?

Okay, you guys got me. I have been trying to keep the engine clean, but it had been a while when I took that photo. I just grabbed the camera to show that zip-tie deal. The car only has 15,500 on it, so it hasn't been too hard to keep clean. Also, NC doesn't usually get the sludge and slush that some of you folks endure. I guess that is why so many folks are moving south to live here. God Bless, Marc

Marc, how is the zip tie holding up in there? Notice any wear on the tie? Any melting?

No melting at all, and it's holding just fine. The parts I tied to don't get that hot. I am still enjoying my GMPP intake too. I washed it yesterday, along with the rest of the car, as we had a warm upper 60 degree day here. Amazingly warm considering the record cold snap for the last month. At least Elvis shines again. God Bless, Marc
