Hella Optilux 2500 Angel Eye Light Kit add-on

I just typed out a "how to" for this brand of driving light add-on for the HHR. Thanks to CJ for answering my questions and everyone else for providing great info on this site.

You can find the how to at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2355978/2.

Here's are some pics:

"Angel eyes" only.

mounted driving lights with chrome molding on plastic holder.

regular driving light only.

I was thinking of using the same lights but was undecided on how I wanted to mount them. I saw CJ's, now yours. Nice....................is it okay to tap into the headlight wire?

Looks really good!!
Can they be turned on independently, or are they wired into the parking llights?

The headlight wire has a 20amp fuse in the fuse box. The driving lights also came with a 20amp fuse. I dont see how that could be a problem, unless someone in here can tell me that tapping into the headlight cable is the wrong way to go.

the switch came with three settings, OFF, ANGEL EYES and REGULAR DRIVING LIGHTS. I like to leave the switch in the OFF position because I dont really need the driving lights on in the daytime, but if you have your lights set for AUTO and the headlights turn on your driving lights will turn on as well.

Looks great! The only thing I'm concerned with is the open space around the edges of the light cans.
Seems to me this might cause an aerodynamic "lift" at around 145mph+. If so, this mod just won't work for me...

Can you do a few high-speed runs and report your results?

Thanks!

sure thing mike! I'll test that out tonight on the 210 fwy at rush hour...I should get up to 10mph before the whole bumper gets ripped out.

I dont know if you can replace the factory lights without buying the covers first. I wasnt planning on using the plastic covers but couldnt find any other way to mount the driving lights other than cutting the plastic cover up to install the mounts.

Those foglights look FANTASTIC!!! ,did`nt get OEM lights either , been upset and wanted them but heard the price was rediculous...
Wondered where you got the ring until I went to the other site. Great presentation. Question, could the original peice have been trimmed to size to avoid the opening around the light?
One never knows when he`s going to exceed 144mph!!!!
