How to fix wiper transmission

Did you find out what clip fits? Steve
I'm sure glad I saw this repair technique. My driver-side wiper went 'limp' while going 65 mph on the snowy highway yesterday. Sure enough, the little plastic end piece doesn't grab anymore.
In the process of drilling now and waiting for the drill battery to recharge.
I will probably buy three of those British clips once they let me know the nominal ball size it clips to.

Here is what mine looked like this afternoon. I also (as someone else suggested) put some grease inside before assembling.

Thanks for the great details on the wiper repair, my driver side wiper stopped moving this morning on the way to work and my hhr has only 150 000kms on it! I was dredging what this would cost me but I have no problem trying to fix something.

Thank goodness for this forum. I was thinking along the same type of fix, when I thought I would better do a quick Google search. Low and behold, other people are having the same problem.
My passenger side just stopped working while it was raining. About 160,000 km.
It was easy to take the part out and get a closer look.

Just happened to me. Driver's side wiper stopped working and was pushed to the far left of the windshield while driving on an interstate. Passenger side worked fine until I was almost home then seized up about 1/3 of the way up the windshield. I'm assuming it's the same problem as I haven't pulled it yet. The part 49447 at Dorman products is said to not fit when I used the vehicle fitting guide. Can anyone confirm?
