Well i figured out a great way to remove tree sap. the stuff is tricky but heres my method
1. wash your car of all loose dirt and grime
2. get some sap, bug, and tar remover
3. using a paper towel put some of the remover on the towel and start rubbing vigorously, but not too vigorously the stuff is a little abrasive and i wore through the clear coat and started to pickup paint once.
4. once your sap is removed get your trusty clay bar out and clay bar the area to remove the remaining sap remover
5. get your favorite polishing compound and use that on the area
6. wax the area with your preferred wax
7. crack open your beverage of choice and relax

i know this sounds like a lengthy process but the sap remover removes everyhting so you got to protect that paint. it works well and will look great.

 

I just sprayed the sap with non-ammonia window cleaner.....used a plastic putty
knife to lift the sap......waxed the spot (whole car to be truthful)........no evidence.

Cajun / Al

 

I used NON-ACETONE Fingernail Polish Remover.

Make sure you use non-acetone or you'll ruin your paint job. Came off pretty easy. Didn't have to rub hard at all.

 

Wd-40

 

see i tried wd-40 and it would not take the stubborn stuff off. with the turtle wax stuff its off in a jiffy.

 

The best product on the market today ( IMO ) is a citrus based liquid called GOO GONE found in all hdwe,Home Depots and Lowe's everwhere . I have been using the stuff for years on everything imagineable with great results . Also I would not recomend using paper towels for anything but your winshield or windows because of it being a fiber based material , and will scratch painted surfaces when to much pressure is applied .

 

The worst kind of tree sap is from pine / evergreens. To remove this sap, go to the store and buy a bottle of Lest Oil. Put just a tiny bit on a soft cotton cloth and rub it lightly. It will come right off. I learned this when I spent an entire summer working on different tree farms shearing these. I used to come home covered and this is the only thing that will take it off easily.
