welcome8: to the forum pokey5735!

I believe new keys for a 2011 would be programmed as outlined above, the key fobs aren't affected by the "Re-Learn" program. If you ever need to buy a new key fob, it will have to be matched to the HHR by your dealer using a scan tool.

I cant thank you guys enough for sharing this fix. I've been wrestling with this stinking car in the snow for the past couple days pulling batteries, testing starters, etc. This 30 min reset security cured what ailed me and I greatly appreciate you sharing this. Saved me a cost of a tow and stealership

My wife just called and is having this issue, but says she can't pull the key out.

I won't be able to get there until later in the day, is the key stuck related?

No. Removal of stuck key is in the owners manual, as well as "key stuck" in the search box.

Key was stuck due to low battery. I had planned to replace the battery this weekend (still original from 2007 when I bought the car), I guess it heard me talking.

I tried reseting as instructed and I waited ten minutes the light blinked but never went out. My question is do I wait ten minutes or do I have to wait until the light goes out? I repeated the steps three times and tried starting the car and it didn't work.

thanks

minute reset

I purchased the spare key from Walmart would that be my issue?

Hi Watson, to the forums!

Does the key have the + inside of a circle on it?
