New Key, How to program it.
TomsHHR Tip Thread!!!!
To program a new key.
1. insert your present key, start and shut off the engine.
2. remove key.
3. insert new key within 30 seconds and turn on the ignition.
4. wait 10 seconds, then start your engine.
Your new key should now be programmed.
I bought 2 extra keys after I got my HHR and keep one in my travel bag for that "OOPS Moment" when somehow the TSA loses your keys for you.

Thanx for the tip on programming key. Mine just suddenly quit working and this saved me from spending vacation time going to the dealership to have it done. Thanx, again!

When using one of the programmed keys to unlock the vehicle, is the horn supposed to start beeping at a slow rate? Mine does and it's most annoying. I haven't found anything in the owner's manual that addresses this yet to enable me to silence the horn beeps when using a programmed key. Thanks...

I found this to be true if your fob does not work. I found if you lock the last door with the key, you could open it and no alarm went off.
And it was a rental HHR this happened on.

Excellent info, thank you. The manual/users guide that came with Auggie is as big as a novel and just as hard to find this type of info in it.

So in essence if you use the key or push the lock down manually, the alarm is not on.
