Quieting that trailer hitch

If you have a problem with your ballhitch banging around in the reciever ( almost as bad a nylon nuts)it can be easily silenced with what is known as speed tape.. that is, aluminum tape. Very thin but quite strong.Tape each end of the ballhitch with one wrap (if done correctly it will not be visible)..do not overlap..insert carefully to test fit and use pieces of tape as shims.Ive experimented and found a good combo on MY setup and those interested will have to do the same. This takes out the slop in the reciever and also acts as a cushion so the metal to metal contact is minimized. DO NOT over tape and force the hitch into the reciever as this will cause it to jam up as the tape tries to roll back. The hitch should just slide into the receiver will just some small wiggling. This works real well in eliminating that "clunk" from the hitch while on those oh so great roads we are forced to travel on. And as a side note..spray that hidden hitch with a good epoxy paint and it will hold up much longer!

That sounds like an easy fix! Have to give it a try. I've heard of some drilling a hole in the receiver, welding a nut on & installing & tightening a bolt to take out the play in the drawbar.
