No you don't have to. I did all my HID install thru the dumb fender wells.

oh so you just have to take out the fender wells? is that hard to do? where did you mount your ballasts?

You don't have to take them out. Just peal em back a bit. It's not hard, but irritating. I zip tied the ballasts to a metal cross brace.

some nice person backed into my '07 HHR and smashed the left headlight. What a piece of cake to replace it after reading the "how to "section in this forum. I have learned ssooo much by reading this forum almost daily. Thanks again all of you that provide input to it.
