Cool. Wish I had read this yesterday, before I completely took apart my interior door panel and messed up my foam insulation inside the door.

I dropped the screw inside the door though. No idea how to get it out.

A magnet wand works good, I used the info in this post, Thanks very much Slide_rite, I did not have any issue dropping screws, I held thee cap until it was free from the screw and the screw stayed in the inner handle , I painted the lower four bars of my stock grille and the four handles metallic pewter, four color coats then 600 grit color sand and three coats clear coat and they look awesome, when the rain stops, I'll post some pics

You should be able to get to it through the access hole at the bottom. Remove the approximately 1.5-2.5 inch black rubber plug at the bottom of the door. I dropped one and a little stabbing around in there with a magnetic wand found it in seconds.

Glad everyone has found this useful, happy to contribute.

I am missing one of those black rubber plugs. I have tried to locate them at gmparts.com and other sites, but cannot find them. Does anybody know which part number this is?

Thanks for pointing out this list. However I cannot find it there, either. The only thing that comes close is the Door Interior Reflector 15207033. But that's a reflector and not the rubber plug I am actually looking for.

Did you look at the second part:
Rubber Liner for Door Grips - they hide the screws at the bottom of the door panel grips: (suggested by 843de)
- LINER - Front & Rear Side Door Trim Finish - GM P/N: 15146916 (Fits 2006-2008)
- LINER - Front & Rear Side Door Trim Finish - GM P/N: 25874249 (Fits 2009-2011)
- LINER - Floor Console - Cup Holder - GM P/N: 10377297 (Fits 2006-2008)

If that's not what you are talking about try gmpartsoutlet.net or one of the other gm online parts places, they have catalogs with diagrams, some have part numbers.
