Seat removal and carpet install
thank you. I have not added, changed, or modified anything and now it looks totally normal. When I went to trade it in last summer, the "appraiser" didn't even notice it was a two-tone. when they wouldn't deal, I asked him if it was due to the custom interior...he asked "what is custom about it? I didn't notice anything?"
Just an update, I have been approached by many other HHR owners who have spotted my two-tone interior, and they asked what option it was and if it was a 2010 option?
I have also run in to a few friends from other manuf. car forums who saw this thread and started doing the same thing to their cars, even though they are different manuf. vehicles all together (Lincoln Mark VIII's that came with a light graphite/dark graphite interior, very similar in shade to the HHR's light gray/ebony colors)

the headliner is shipped as 1 piece, and the shipping costs more than the part!(size/dimensions, etc)
the frame-work for the head-liner is weak...if you have a sunroof, you already know this. you can literally pull it down and shove your whole arm in there...it's like molded styro-foam or something flimsy.
I personally like the lighter color of headliner...makes the car seem less 'cave-like'.
I've been in an all-black HHR and it feels like you're driving a pair of goggles.

question
Great write up. Helping me alot with running my wiring for after market stereo.
1 thing I did not see covered is the bolt that holds the front 2 seatbelts in. It is located on the trim piece between the front and rear doors on each side. I need to remove this to tuck my 0 awg wiring. What size is that bolt. So I can get away only buying 1 bit.
You can see the torx bolt in question in this photo.

Thank you for all the effort you expended to film this and write it out with tips along the way. My 06 bought used 3 yrs ago has many parts replaced. Mechanics at private garages don't know how to analyze an automotive problem today. I'm sure I replaced the blower motor and 3 resistors (it a 6.5, not a 7 mm bolt!!) and then after packing the BCM area with pool noodlelike material, I discovered the blower motor came on and off with the slightest wiggle, once packed = no wiggle room. HHR is unique. There are 3 junkyards near me, Chesterfield Auto parts in Richmond is the best, which always have HHR parts. I have a nice size paint chip and to strip the hood and do a repaint right it's over $400. A used hood without the chips I have is $45...take a blanket to cover the wheelbarrow and get a friend to go to help take off and load into my truck. Next project...
