SS Intercooler Grille Removal?

SS Intercooler Grille Removal?
Anyone yet removed the lower intercooler grille on an SS?
Wishing to do some emblem mods, and would like to put one down there, an older SS one with posts in the back...which will be attached by a backplate and some speed nuts. But the intercooler (rightly so) can't be accessed from under the front end moulding, or can it really from the top, so one can't hands, or a tool, to be able to attach the emblem from the back.
The bits and peices I've gathered from the board is that the whole bumper assembly has to come off...just wondering if there's another way, as there is a notch on the right hand side of the lower grille that makes me think and can be pried off (and I assume, reattached) starting at that point, but am not too keen on pullling too hard and having the whole thing snap.
TIA,

First you remove the front air deflector. This should be easy for everyone to figure out. Then follow these steps. You may be able to short cut some steps.

Thanks a whole bunch ChevyMgr. Much appreciated.
If I can remove that from bumper facia extension (and of course be able to put it back on!) I can get up and in behind the grille and do the fastening I require, and the grille itself doesn't have to come off.

ChevyMgr!
I bottomed the HHR out today and broke the intercooler "intake pipe" off the driver's side end tank.
Where are the intercooler mounting points?
Do you have a diagram?
Can I access everything from underneath without removing the bumper?
I found this thread and it shows how to get the air dam or whatever off but...
I hope I can access the mounting points from underneath.
I also have a front mount IC on my Eclipse that I might use if possible until my Chevy dealer gets the correct IC for me.
He quoted me $437.
That sound right to you?
I wouldn't think that this all will void my $2K warranty but...should I say I'm ordering the GM IC for someone else?
Will they need the VIN#?
Sorry for so many questions at once but I did search and you da man
Thanks!

I guess the proper term is "front air deflector". ........Got the grill out, but only because the assembler left out the two fasteners that hold the two top tabs. The clips disengage by pushing outward (away from the grill center) on each tab while applying pressure. The tabs are pretty stiff, and take a fair amount of force to deflect. I think maybe it is normal not to have fasteners in the two holes in the top tabs.

I hope he got it done by now.
I revived an old thread about a related issue.
I need to pull the IC and wanted to know from ChevyMgr if I can do it without pulling the bumper skin.
Looks like a definite maybe.
