That guide pin step really isn't needed, with an extension mirror you can look DIRECTLY at the bolt threads and adjust the pully from the other side of the installed pump spinning the fins. I was surprised how easy it was.
Mine is a full circle tool the bolts are clipped into place , the gear to water pump bolts can’t be dropped inside the front cover, and they line up perfect every time, no need to work a flashlight and mirror wand and fumble the bolts!
