Hi everyone! First time HHR owner.

I found my 2008 HHR LS listed locally. It had been totalled by the insurance company because the owners hit something and ruined the bottom end of the engine. The vehicle has under 41k miles and I'm currently in the process of putting another engine in that has under 9k miles (actual 2008 HHR 2.2L engine). So far I have $5600 invested including TTL and a trans mount. The title scared me at first because it was a pink title (salvage) but it has since been upgraded to a "rebuilt" title.

Thank you for having a place where I can do some research and make new friends.

to the HHR Forum....To bad for the HHR, Hopefully you don't run into too many issues with it. A rear end accident can't be good for these little cars for sure....

Talking Update: Goldie is running again!!!

I got the new engine put in and it's running great. Averaging around 28mpg with the hills and my lead feet. The only issue right now is that the TPMS and Keyless entry aren't working correctly but thanks to the forum I found the answer. I love the fact that I got my ride for less than half of retail. It pays to get a little greasy :)

Bought 2007 LT2 floodmobile for spares. $600.

Took the 17" wheels off of it and put them on my '08 LS along with some new rubber. Will put the plain bent 16"s on the '07 so I can move it around my yard if I have to. Will call my favorite auto recycle place Monday and see what they'll offer me for the carcass before I start pulling everything off of it.

Depending on how much they will pay I may just go ahead and break the thing down to the bare shell and just Craigslist and Ebay everything. The 2.4 didn't have any water in the oil and it turns so it may run... same with tranny. Probably sell those cheap if they don't offer me much. The windshield and other glass is good and has leather interior.

You should swap the interior out to the leather. Heated seats are great on cold days! Also I'd think about installing the running boards if they are in good shape....don't forget the factory fog lights too!
