Almost owner...
Hey All!!
First thanks for the great info all over this site!!
My parents bought a used 07 HHR in the fall of 2007, I think it had 10,000 miles on it. It was mom's car, it wasn't perfect (dealer worked on rotors every at least 5,000 miles, that's a long story!!) but she drove it everyday. In 2011 my mom died and it became dad's extra car. He used it often, but after the dealership sold, the new owner wasn't found of the agreement the old owner had of free work every 5,000 miles and the brakes seemed to be getting worse. Since he didn't drive it daily it wasn't a major deal but still a lot work into it. Fast forward to last night he sent me pictures of the new truck he bought and offered to give me the HHR. I am hoping to pick it up over Thanksgiving! I would have told him it wasn't worth the work, but since it was my mom's and I am an admitted Mama's boy I decided to take it, but am relying on ya'll to help with getting this thing driving (or maybe should say braking) smoothly!

Welcome to the site..
Good Story.... I love my HHR almost as much as I did my Mother so I know what you mean.
I still have many of the special things both of my parents left with me.
There are many posts and posters here to give you what you will need to get her properly repaired.
Get your Priorities lined up and go at it.

Hey Guys thanks again for the welcome!
Is it okay to ask for opinions here on this thread? I've been doing lots of looking, and seems like best options for rotors are A) change over to SS rotors, B) NAPA Ultra, or C) Duralast Gold
Oldblue I am guessing from previous link you would recommend change to SS, does that impact wheel options in future? Has anyone used the Duralast and NAPA options? Is there any advantage to going with the NAPA rotors? Right now AZ has $30 off order of $150 so I could save a few bucks on getting rotors and pads (looking at Duralast Max) from them over NAPA.
Also, since I have always done work in my uncle's shop I don't have my own torque wrench at moment, any recommendation for good torque wrench?

Okay so once I started looking for SS conversion options I found Raybestos Advanced Technology rotors for $32 each which is big enough difference for me to consider them over brands I was considering. I know somewhere here I read that they are the same as NAPA Ultra, is that true? Or at least are they comparable in quality?
Also, any thoughts on the Bendix Premium Copper Free Ceramic brake pads? Found those at great price if they are good quality...
Thanks for any thoughts! I head "home" for Thanksgiving in 10 days and am hoping to have the parts waiting for me when I get there!
