It's an LT flex fuel automatic with a 2.4. I've already gotten the ignition and the power steering recalls fixed. Had it for a couple of months. Today I hit a bump and the dash lit up, door locks opened, but the car kept running. Any help with locating where I might look would be appreciated.

 

Fuse boxes are where I might start. Passenger side kick plate under the center, and then the under hood fuse box, drivers' side. Make sure they are all seated, and the under-hood box is firmly planted.

Check the positive cable connection at the underhood fuse box. 2nd place to check, the battery connections in the rear.

 

Thanks guys. I have checked all the fuses, fuse box and battery connections in the trunk. I found that my 4 way lug wrench had moved around and contacted one of the terminals. I'm hoping that was the problem. I will know when I go out later today. Weird, huh?

 

More lucky! Secure the lug wrench so this doesn't happen again!

 

Yep. VERY lucky. It could just as easily fried some electronics and left you
"dead on the spot".
HHR's electrical systems are very sensitive to voltage spikes, up and down. Shorting one out at the battery.....I don't even want to think about that.

 

So, we learned today that we need to keep tools in boxes or wrapped in things. Guess I will have to go check my tool box and make sure it didn't get loose. *not being sarcastic*
