New member out here in Cadillac Michigan, looking for an 08 SS later this summer (Internship getting some more money around). I am in college still so an HHR seams pretty cool and the SS will be fun for me haha. Gonna go to GVSU this fall if anyone out in Allendale or GR ever has any meet ups I'm deff in, or can organise some for later this summer. awesome.

yeah, I have checked and I have a 97 dodge stratus with a 2.5 litre 4 banger and the insurance co that I am under thinks thats a pretty big engine for a 4 cyl car haha so the HHr isn't much of a difference as of now from what they have said, maybe if I find "The One" and give a specific VIN # the quote might change. helps I have never been pulled over so that translates to no tickets, and that with a good driver discount and good student discount (over 3.0 I think?) my insurance isn't bad at all. how was your insurance effected by the SS? thats if you where in any boat like me (doutfull). Thanks man, I really like the speedy replies on this forum as its past midnight here haha.

The car is named in honor of the city or city in honor of the car?

Actually both the car company and the city are named for a gentleman named Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac who was a French explorer born in 1658 and who died in 1730. He was an explorer in what was known then as New France, an area that stretched from what is now Eastern Canada to Louisiana.

He was a bit of a scoundrel and a gambler, but among his accomplishments was the founding of Fort Pontchartrain, now known as Detroit in 1701.

cute guy.
each of us in small degrees, "a scoundrel and a gambler". But hardly anyone is founded at least a modest village.

Exactally, haha that is it, after the founder of Detroit which both the car and my City are named after.

Someone here in Caddy has to have that black SS I have seen much of this early cold summer so far. I Wish he or she was on this forum so I could meet up with him to talk some bit. My father is right by my side when I'm looking for a car and he is trying to tell me its gonna be bad in winter but I have read good htings about the car with wnter tires which wouldn't be that big of a financial burden because in Michigan having those good tires will do ya a big favorable difference.

Welcome! I'm from Michigan as well! I have a friend who goes to GVSU, so I find myself out there occasionally!
