Talking Hello

I have a 2008 Chevy HHR and I'm having a problem with the passenger rear door behind the driver. The door will no longer close. Someone said it's the latch and it won't stay connected to the latch inside the door. What do I need to do. I cannot afford to take it to the dealer.

Take a screwdriver and push the movable part (latch) on the door jamb. It should click one way or the other. If someone (like a child) pushed it, it will not shut.

I would take the door panel off and free up all the linkage with spray oil like wd 40 or my favorite jb blaster. Then work all the Linkage free. Also before you close the door make sure the latch on the door is in the unlatched position. You can compare the latch that's not working with one of the other ones that is working to see what is moving and what's not moving.
