Hello from Central Wisconsin

Hello Everyone,

My name is Jeff and I'm not a HHR owner yet, but I have decided that the HHR will be my next car. I have been looking but haven't found that particular one that will be "The One".

I just had the opportunity a few days ago to test drive a manual 2008 LT. I greatly enjoyed the car, but didn't go home with it. I arrived at the dealership, met the salesperson who handed me the keys and then said to take it for a test drive. My wife and I drove the car and really enjoyed it. We turned around and came back to the dealership. However I know better then to impulse buy. The salesperson immediately took us into his office and tried hard to get me to sign. The owner of the dealership even came over and tried. They must have assumed that since I drove 3 hrs to look at the car I was going home with it. I honestly was considering purchasing the car as I drove down to see it, but I wanted to make sure I have the right car for me.

I'm always uncomfortable out of my area car dealers. The local dealers want your return business so they will work to get you to come back. The out of area dealers like this one just want the sale and be done with you. Perhaps if they would have taken the time to actually show me the car and it's features instead of rushing me inside to purchase the car I may have gone home with it. Oh well, lesson learned.

The trip provided me the opportunity to try out the manual version of the HHR which I love. I own a manual transmission car now and I always tell my wife that extra peddle gives my left foot something to do. Besides it provided the opportunity for my wife to sit in one. This is the first time she has and she loves the leg room and head room. I have her sold on getting an HHR now. However I have been told that I now need to look for an HHR with a sunroof. She loved that feature the most in this car we tried.

Anyway, sorry for rambling on.

Typically I say happy flying as I'm a pilot, but in this case I'll close with Happy Driving.

Jeff

Hey Jeff! First off, welcome to the HHR network! I was originally from central WI myself (Wittenberg) but live in SE WI now.

I know what you mean about driving/shopping at dealers that are out of your area. I never got a real warm friendly feeling doing that myself. I seldom use the dealership that I bought my SS at as it is about 35 mi. away and they really never impressed me with their service. Local Chevy dealer is 2 mi. away and despite never having a HHR SS on their lot have done a good job helping me out with a couple issues.

My wife sure loves our HHR, I have a hard time prying her fingers off the steering wheel at times! Our SS is a manual trans, has a sunroof and premium sound system and my wife is also crazy about that! Oh yes, and me too!
