Hello from Idaho

Hi everyone,

I'm a retired Soldier enjoying the retired life in quiet, beautiful Idaho. Both my wife and our daughter own HHRs. My wife's, used as her company car, is a 2009; our daughter's, her daily driver, is a 2007 LT, and was used as a Toad for most of its life by the previous owner. She's had a lot of work done to it, since buying it, including having the exhaust manifold recently replaced. It's now sitting in my garage, waiting for brake parts to arrive, so that we can both replace everything together....one of the front calipers let go and locked everything up.

I'm sure I'll have questions about these cars along the way, so I'm looking forward to perusing the forum for the answers.

Cheers!

As you might have seen, our search window can assist you to find answers to your questions, or just ask and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Are you replacing both front calipers, have you considered upgrading your front rotors to SS non Brembo rotors for better braking? Did you order new brake hoses, crush washers?
Somethings to think about.

I wish I had known there was a discount, before I bought everything….I buy most of my parts from Rock Auto. Truth be told, I didn’t know there was an SS, so I ordered all AC Delco Gold parts.

Yes everything is being replaced, including hoses and washers. Total cost, front and rear, was just under $500 shipped, a far cry from the $1400 a shop near my daughter’s work wanted, and that wasn’t using GM/AC Delco parts.

I have the entire brake section from the FSM on a Word document, and I was a UH-1H crewchief in my early years, so following directions and turning a wrench has never been a problem for me. I just read the entire section, and it’s pretty straightforward.

You wouldn’t happen to have a passenger side rocker panel in Sport Red Metallic, would you?

No worries. I saw one the other day with running boards…was this a factory option or just aftermarket?

Running boards were a factory option on all years after 2006.
They are not hard to install and there is a write up on this site on how to do.
Personally, I'm not to fond of them.
After I installed mine I discovered they are shin busters, but they look good and keeps the rocks off of the fenders.
