Any reason why a D15B7 engine would develop a taste for head gaskets every 18 months or so?
the head gasket mite be put on backwords there is a cooling port that gets blocked off.. i dunnoo or the head is worped.. id consider milling and adding a new head i can find you one.. its a great little car how ever the DOHC vtec Del sol is were its at!

Very spiffy!

Totally off topic, head gaskets were done by me with 30+ years of engine building 'sperience, and the head was milled by a trusted machine shop, so who knows. I think it just doesn't like being worked on by a Chevy guy.

2. clearance correct?
3. head and block been checked as level no warp spot?

you can upgrade to a Vtec head from a D16y then u can run a vtec controler from Ebay and wire it in.. alot of fun!!!! :)

Upgraded to a steel gasket, clearances checked, and the block was checked for straightness and warping. New water pump and radiator too. I think its just suffering from a case of "not driven much anymore and being 20 years old-itis".

Before I get drawn and quartered for talking Honda here, I'll shoot you a PM sometime if I can think of anything else to ask you about it. Right now she drives her Fiat 500C 90% of the time with the Del Sol and one of the HHR's splitting the balance.

We have an interesting garage, 5 Chevrolet's, 1 Fiat, 1 Honda, and a Dodge Challenger R/T.

The Fiat is a sweet little car, only 104hp and not much more torque, but if you drive it like Italian cars are meant to be driven(Full throttle or Stop), its a hoot!

But when you hop out of it and get into an HHR, its like going from a go-kart to a Kenworth.
