New guy here... coming from the LS world

Hey guys/gals. I'm looking at joining the hhr ss gang and just had a few questions. I'm not new to forums. Been modding LS motors for a few years now. While I enjoyed the power of 2 previous Heads/Cam LS motors, the mileage was terrible and so were the auto transmissions

Anywho... I'm looking at a few different 08's and 09's. I know there isn't much difference besides the rpd being available in 09 etc.

My questions are...
1. How well are these scooters lasting past 100k miles?

2. Which tune is the most preferred being HPT, ZZP, or trifecta?

3. How well are the auto transmissions holding up with the increased HP?

I have some experience with tuning HPT with my previous LS vehicles, however, I have never messed with a boosted application. I honestly just want a tune and around 20-25psi in stock form.

BTW, you guys have a great site here and i'm looking forward to learning more from you all.

Thanks.

Welcome to the site.

Sorry. Can't answer any of your questions from my own experiences.
Mines a 5 speed, low miles, GMTU tuned.
I'm sure some of the SS gang will post up to welcome you and share their thoughts.

Plus, I'll bet some of the 2.2 and 2.4 folks will want to hit you up for some tuning knowledge.

Welcome.

1. Can't answer as my 09 only has about 50k on it. But it's holding up fine so far.

2. I don't have any experience with ZZP tunes or HPT. I'm trifecta tuned to 23psi and happy with the performance. The only thing that sucks about trifecta is having to wait for new tunes after emailing off data logs.

3. My auto isn't pushing a lot of power, maybe 300ish. But there are plenty of guys out there with autos pushing more power that I haven't heard of having trans issues.

I'll give you some info....

I am at 68,000 miles, and the engine seems to be going great...Forged internals and what not...these LNF's seem to have been built right..

I have the trifecta budget tune...It was $220 or so after I returned my cable...I love it. switch between tunes by pushing a button, hits 23-24psi every time...

as for the auto tranny- this is where I have some bad input...My planetary gear wasn't happy with the boost or something I did...I had it rebuilt at 66,000 miles (only a couple of months ago). The car had spent time at the track and I wasn't 100% easy on the car...but I definitly didn't think it would happen...other guys are running with quite a but more power, and running good...here is the thread on my tranny rebuildhttps://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/problems-service-repairs-42/planetary-gear-fried-48334/

You could use a hot side and a intercooler, those are the only thing I've seen break.
