You can find overlays for the bowties on eBay:

Mine are custom painted pink with an old skool overlay in black.
Digging the wheels, definetely needs to be leveled/lowered! Is your grille black also?

Let the mods begin!

Thanks afs9, I was looking for Red, White or Black. I've seen the overlays and that might work. I'm liking the wheels too. I'd like to lower it also, but don't want to stiffen up the ride too much (bothers my back too much), but I dig the looks. Grille is the satin, which actually matches the 57' stripe well. I may paint the 2nd and 4th bar to give it the 3 bar look. I'll have to look at more of the peoples pics on here.

HillsdaleHHR, can the bowties be taken apart and painted from underneath to keep the 3-D look from the clear plastic?

Won't stiffen the ride if you level it--which is what I have done. I also have a sway bar on it and adds a nice "balance" to the ride (I used to feel like I was 'tipping' sometimes).

A great person to ask for painting of grille's or bowties is UMA (Todd). He is the Master painter for the grille's/bowties for us SoCal folks!

I've driven a leveled HHR with 18" SS wheels and it felt great--but have yet to drive a lowered HHR. One of these day's I'll get to take UMA for a spin--she's got 20's and is lowered.

Seriously, my only mod was going to be a stubby antenna--can't tell you what I've actually spent on this car!

I don't think so. If you wanted to kinda keep a 3-D look maybe you could paint the base of the bowtie black and the raised part red. Might be a little difficult but would be cool

Yeah, I don't really want the gold to show. I'd rather have a red background with a black center or vice-versa.
afs9, what do you do to level them? Springs in rear only? I like the leveled / lowered look. Way to much gap in the rear between the tires and body.

I also thought of going to the black chrome parts in the autumn? edition(Whatever it is called). I don't want chrome/chrome on the car. I'll be removing the chicklets and the "classic" plastic on the sides.

Lucky, as I fueled up today I checked my stripes again. The only part that is raised is the small red and chrome bowties.

Has anybody ever seen the dash kits in red carbon fiber? I'm a little to old for far out but think it wouldn't look too bad.

Thanks again for making me feel welcome!

Goldline Leveling Springs, just for the back--adds a nice, subtle drop (got mine from here): http://hhrboutique.com/items/hhr-per...61r-detail.htm

I have a Progressive Sway Bar, but many got this one from another vendor on here: http://www.turbotechracing.com/produ...48&idcategory=

And yes, it is the Fall Edition that has the black chrome and I think someone posted you could get the black chrome grill, but it was quite pricey (I'm all about the chrome).

The bug has hit!
