New here. Got advice?
Hey people,
just recently discovered the HHR.
Dont have these cars where I’m from, at least never saw one.
Love the looks inside & out.
Been non-stop browsing all used car sites, Craigslist & what not.
Trying to read and know as much as I can, even testrode.
Dont think I can contain myself much longer. Almost everyone I know tells me NOT to buy the HHR, but can’t give me good reason why.
Decided to get some advice from people who know a thing or 2 about the HHR, before making a big mistake.
What I’ve gathered so far:
- 2006-2009 models tend to have more issues than later models. i.e. wiring.
- A lot of times I read of issues with sensors, camshaft and others that cause the check engine light to come on.
- Read a lot of struts and bearings needing to be fixed or speakers not working.
- It looks a decent car with good exterior& interior, under 150k, with everything’s electrical and mechanical working and clean title can be purchased for around 3000$ - 5000$.
I like the Panel van version best, but only found LS versions with 200k+ miles, often all dinged up.
My favorite Modell would be 2010 Panel SS. (Last year they built it??)
In dark (Cyber?) gray, with black leather seats.
But I don’t believe that even exists. :/
Since there are a lot cheap 200k mileage out there, I was thinking of maybe getting the neatest 2010/2011 LT or panel with a color I like and get the engine replaced with an overhauled one.
Is that advisable??
Like I said, total N00b here. Any advice what to look for, what to get etc is much appreciated.
This weekend I’ll go test driving some 2008 LTs for 4G and 130k.
Any advice where to look for cars, parts and customization?
