If you can't see the traffic lights, try this !
Hello everybody, this is my first post, so first I must say this forum is awsome. I'm a 30 year retired GM UAW electrician who has enjoyed 15,000 miles in my SS HHR. I like to share some things that I didn't like and changed for the better. First of all, the visabilty issue, I removed the "Drive in movie screen" sized rear view mirror and replaced it with a Billet Specalities 4" wide one that lets me see ALL of the rear window. Second, I installed a "traffic light finder", I tried a few different kinds and the one that works best, is a "GUIDE" . If you Google "GUIDE TRAFFIC LIGHT FINDER" there are lots of vendors selling them, just don't spend more than about $25.oo. Remove the little arm and use some velcro from an "EZ Pass" thing-( if you don't have EZ pass that's OK, just stop by where they issue them and tell them your windshield was replaced and you need some velcro stickers)- put it on top of the dash, centered behind the speedometer. Thease things were big in the 50's when cars didn't have air conditioning and visors hung over the windshield. It's the simplest thing to add, and when you drive a SS their's nothing better than being the first car at a red light. BTW the mirror doesn't have a nite/day feature, but the car has a deep tint rear window and it works for me. I have other mods that I want to post pictures of, so more to come!
