New member with new (to me) 2010 LS 5-speed

Hi Everyone,

Purchased a 2010 base HHR LS 5-speed this weekend. Looking forward to enjoying it, tinkering with it, and improving it. Overall, the vehicle is is really good shape, but there will be a few items to sort out. I bought the car in the Tampa, Florida area. One fairly unique thing about it is a previous owner installed a custom alcantara dash cover and headliner. Anybody here recognize the car who might be able to offer some history on it?

A bit about me: I'm an "equal opportunity" gearhead whose tastes range from classic street rods and muscle cars, to modern sports and performance cars. I like to do my own maintenance and repair work as a hands-on hobby that gets me away from my computer-tethered software development day job. I've owned everything from Chevys to Nissans to Acuras to Audis to Porsches, and generally gravitate to vehicles you don't see every day.

Looking forward to participating in the forums!

Welcome to the site, I don’t recognize this one! Perhaps some of our Florida members, or maybe it was a transplant from elsewhere.

Thanks, Oldblue! According to the vehicle Carfax, it has spent its life in western Florida, from Tarpon Springs up to and around the Tampa area.

Nice "new to you' vehicle.
You will enjoy working and modifying it.
At least I do with mine.

I added the running boards, mud flaps, rear spoiler, modified the grill to a '3 bar' design, Saab wheels and I'm not finished

I see those keys in the ignition switch, old style! The ignition recall hasn’t been installed. Take the extra keys and fobs off , that takes the weight off the ignition part of the cause of ignition switch failures.
I frequently go to Tarpon Springs, haven’t seen that one. Yet! Have not been down to Florida since April 2019 thanks to the pandemic! Next spring, we plan on getting down there again. I’ve met up with members in Bradenington and Sarasota, and in Tampa, most aren’t here on the site much.

Thanks for the tip on the ignition switch! Will follow-up on the recall as well.
