Welcome from Santa Ana! looking forward to meeting your MIL and her cool ride!
As Jay said, we are pretty active and have a bbq g2g coming up soon -- keep checking the South Pacific link.

Usually the first thing to go is the 'fishing pole' aka, the antenna.

What color and we like pix!

Here's a quick camera phone shot with the proud new owner! -

It's an amazingly clean 2009 LT with 46K miles - a little high for an '09, but we got a super deal on it and it is absolutely perfect shape, not a single ding or scratch. Only option appears to be a power seat. Here's some of the plans:
*Tire change - I posted a thread about "half price whitewalls" - I want to run 225/60-16 Michelin "Symmetry" tires with a very thin pinstripe whitewall (sort of like the old "pinner" whites or redlines from the 60's) - it is a factory tire for Lincoln Towncars/Ford Crown Vics - I wish it were a 215/60, but I think it will work - please let me know of your experience with a 225/60/16!
*I want to upgrade it to a "factory" style chrome package - chrome wheel "covers", grill, mirror and door handles and the back gate strip - it's all probably cheap stuff, but let me know your experience with the aftermarket items on eBay to do this; we can make this change really inexpensively with some of the parts I'm finding, but I hate for it to go bad in 6 months!
*I want to add factory fog lights, running boards, a roof rack and the factory chrome tail pipe - I will look for threads on this - the running boards look easy, but I wonder how hard it will be add a rack?
*Maybe only a few other "aftermarket" chrome additions, if any - I do like the tailight trim rings, and I will keep my eye out for any other cool stuff, but I want to keep it simple for now.
*When my mother-in-law retires from driving, we are going to buy the car and that is when I will take it to the next level - I would love to add one of those "3D" woody kits that go up and over the door windows - I have heard the company making those went out of business, any word on that?
*Final change eventually will be painted steelies with caps and trim rings, full wide whites, lowering and maybe a clean visor to go with the wood kit, so it will be a long term project, but looking forward to all of it!

Thanks again everyone for your warm welcome, we will look into that picnic in April!!

You will see some very nice versions of HHR's. Our SoCal group has some sweet rides. Careful, you might lose your rear wiper.

Oh yeah, full air ride on the stock knee action suspension, one of only 2 in the world that I'm aware of. She was in the December 2010 issue of Lowrider in a feature about my car club, and is slated for a 4 page spread later this year. The car is a "slantback" (no trunk, continental spare) Master Deluxe, the rarest US produced '37 in the world, one of only about 5 or 6 known to exist. Sorry, I love showing it off, here are some fun shots at the "Wings, Wheels and Rotors" show from about 4 years ago, with skirts and my other set of hubcaps (I switch it around once in awhile);

I love comparing the photos above to this one, you gotta love this guy's style! -

But I think we are heading in the direction of something like this for our HHR:

But we'll see, airbagged with skirts and accessories (maybe not quite that many!) would look cool! HHRs are great, because they take to so many different styles, I can't wait to get started on ours!
