Newb HHR SS owner in MO
Hey guys, bought a new off-the-lot SS with 86 miles, '09 auto, a few weeks ago. Worked out a screamin' deal, even though I traded in my '06 GTO. I own a tuning business and it hauls my ramps and equipment nicely
Anywho, I am out of Poplar Bluff, MO if anyone else is local?

screaming deal?
Is it OK to ask how good a "screaming deal" was? I paid $9k for my 2007 2LT in January, but have probably spent another $3k on tires, repairs, and modifications since then. I'm sure I would love the performance and handling of the SS, though I have never driven one. I don't like that you can't get my heated leather seats in the SS, that the turbos sometimes have problems that immobilize them for weeks waiting on specialized parts, and that the $5k new cost difference seems to persist in the used prices. By the way, I own a home in Springfield, MO.
Well the price for the HHR was about $21K...however, they gave me an extra $3,000 on trade in over what the next competitor would for the GTO in order to move the HHR. That price difference is part of why I got the HHR SS instead of base, I wanted something that would hold its value a smidge better.
It's red, brand new and bone stock, so it looks like about every other SS lol. The only thing done so far is a tune...since that's what I do haha. I had the HP Tuners credits purchased before the car.

Welcome to the club, and enjoy your new truckster.
manual vs automatic SS
There is such a big performance gulf between the manual and automatic SS, that I would not have selected the automatic unless I was uncomfortable driving a stick. There is less difference in acceleration between the manual 2LT and the automatic SS than between the automatic and manual SS! However, personal preference rules, as does limited choice on a vehicle that was discontinued last model year. There were a much higher percentage of manual SS built vs manual 2LT! I still can't understand why they limited the performance of the automatic, but then allow installation of the factory upgrade kit.
