Question newbie, hello please help

Hello fellow hhr drivers, I am new here and wanted to say hello before I start with my concurring question. I was wondering about the oil life mines read 18% I checked the dip stick and it wasn't quite below the low level so I added a 1liter quart I checked it again and it seems its a little above the max i was wondering did I add too much? Thanks for any feedback I know that might be a dumb question but I really dont know.

Welcome! Unfortunately you have overfilled the motor. You are at 18% anyway-get an oil change immediately. Overfilling is not a good thing.

Welcome to the site ADThomas. You will get as many different answers as you get responses, when you ask about oil Her is my 2 cents. I would change it. I went that long the first time , and i was appalled when I saw the oil that came out. I run mine 4 to 5 thousand and it still looks very bad, I think the filter is too dinky. Also, my dad (jet engine mechanic) said over full is bad, so I would change it and fill to full. Lets see what the rest of the bunch says.

ADThomas, You have an Oil Life Monitor and it is stating that your oil life is at 18%. It does not indicate the amount of oil in the engine. It starts at 100% and clicks down to 0% based on your driving habits.

As to when you change your oil is subjective and yes there are more opinions on that subject than cows in Texas.

Welcome!! Since it is at 18% Just get it changed, no worries. I always do mine at 3500 miles, the DIC may still say 50%, but considering the cost of getting your oil changed is about half the price of a tank of gas...do it often. Todd (Uma)

to the forum ADThomas!

Nothing to add to the advice and explanations above, just have your oil changed soon and life will be happy.
