Ni keHerc---New to HHR

I just purchased a used HHR LS locally here in Northern NJ from a Subaru dealer. It is silver ice metallic in color. It only has 16K miles on it, so looks new.

I liked the way the car looked, the comfortable ride, its good gas mileage, and the reasonable price.

As I understand that the warranty does not transfer beyond the original owner
I relaize that I am on my own as far as service/maintenance is concerned.

Now I will be using the Forum for my questions in new threads if I can not find a fit with an existing thread. From doing more extensive internet searches I am concerned about all the problems many people are reporting, however I have not yet determined if these complaints represent only a small portion of all HHR owners.

Welcome. You would still have the remaining factory warranty and powertrain. As far as any problems...they are great cars. I have 74k on my 09 LS and I have had zero problems. Still on original brakes as well. They are prone to clunks in the front end and the famous stuck key. However aside from those issues they do very good.

Welcome. They are good cars. They have quirks like just about any others. The people here are very helpful, and some of us have experienced more than one of those quirks and are ready and willing to help you if/when you encounter them. My only real complaint about the HHR, well 2.
1. the low view out of the front glass. I sometimes have to lean forward to see the light.
2. It only takes a type 1 hitch and it's expensive and hard to put on.

Lastly, I think everyone that owns a car should go to http://www.compnine.com/ and enter their VIN. it will tell them a lot about their car. My HHR was part of a fleet... who knew?

Welcome to the site

Not to get off topic here but thanks for the link to the compnine site egadgetguy. I'm not sure how accurate the numbers are but my red AA5 comes back as 1 of 2!!!

Welcome!

Welcome! I bought my HHR mostly on looks but it gets great gas mileage & has been pretty reliable! The motor is pretty peppy with the short list of mods I've made. It had about 45k miles on it when I bought it (May 2009) & it has about 93k miles now. Stuck key? Once. Clunks in front end? Every once in a while. Still on same brakes as when I purchased it! You'll see all the bad stuff on any forum because that's where people can vent. My only issue: the seats are not that comfortable on long trips but that could be just me!
