Not my first rodeo.
Not my first rodeo.
I bought a used 2007 Chevrolet HHR LS from a Facebook marketplace listing just over a year ago. This is the second HHR I have owned, the first was a 2007 LT2 "Fall Edition" with all black accents. This HHR had over 200,000 kms when I bought it and I did not anticipate how much work it would need.
I have replaced the cooling fan, oil sender unit, upper control arms, brakes, front tires, front wheel bearings
and hub assembly units and very likely the power steering motor next. I enjoy these cars but it's starting to feel like a money pit.
I came here to interact with other HHR owners and troubleshoot some of the problems that arose.

Welcome! You came to the right place. I’m happy to help, as are others who, unlike me, actually know what they’re talking about. (Somewhat less bad advice here than the 95% baloney on fb.)
Your power steering motor is covered either by a recall and/or an amazingly long (virtually lifetime) warranty. Zero dollar repair. (Though you may need to fight for it.) Any GM dealer, need not be Chevy. Start by checking on yer car’s recall status. Dunno how that works in CA.

I see you’re in Canada, the extended warranty period expired 10 years after the original service date , so in your case 2017, however you can still stop by any GM dealership and ask , they might just give you the benefit of the doubt.
