What a great resource for HHR owners!
Hi there!
I was upset that I had to go car shopping and that I wasn't going to get another year out of my 2003 Chevy Impala, it had a broken valve. So I looked for another Impala, then looked a some other GM and Ford vehicles, and then I found a HHR in my price range. I really liked it and test drove it. It was the right kind of car and I even negotiated a price and was ready to buy..., but I figured I'd think about it.
I limped my Impala home and figured I'd look for one that had all the features I wanted, and I was going to find it. That's when I found your site. I was looking into what people have done to "customize" their HHR's. I found answers to anything I wanted to know about the HHR. So much that I felt confident in my choice to buy the one I wanted.
The one I wanted was 78 miles away from where I lived, but it had all the features I was looking to get:
-automatic transmission (once broken left leg, no good for stick)
-sunroof (because I never had one before)
-power windows/ locks, cruise, mp3/hd radio (hey I deserve these)
-keyless entry (bonus remote start too)
-good tires on alloy wheels (I dislike hubcaps)
-A color I liked (White, like my Impala)
So when I got to the dealer I did not hesitate even though it had a couple issues:
-passenger window not working (will look into the switch contacts)
-dash compartment sticks (ordering GM part 19180975)
-replace factory door speakers (driver's side both out, tweeter works)
-missing rear headrests (trip to the salvage yard)
Otherwise it was in good shape for the year and I got what I needed for the trade-in. So I'm already armed with a plan to tackle the issues because of this forum and the work of all the people in the HHR community. Thanks!
