Naw, golf cart is ugly enuff fer me..

 

Hey now! Compared to the Prius, Insight, CRZ, Civic hybrid, and all the other eco-weenie-mobiles....the Volt is dead sexy....kinda like a phone booth with Crager mags and fuzzy dice sexy.

 

I sure wasn't expecting that response !!!

 

I think its the cold pills talking, but I'm not sure.

 

I'm don't necessarily love the way the Volt looks, but I think it is.... interesting. But it's also unrealistic for most people. It's $40,000, and even with the $7000 tax credit, it's still a $33,000 car. So it kind of defeats the purpose. If you buy an electric car to save money, why would you spend $33,000 on it? You can find plenty of other nice, fuel efficient cars for $20K, and keep the $13K. I guess after a while the Volt would pay itself off, but I would think it would take an awfully long time.

About 150,000 miles to reach a break even point on the Volt according to some articles I've read. Some folks never keep a car that long, others see 150K as just nicely broken in, my concern is the batteries. They are supposed to last eight years or 100K, but then you're dealing with a bill of $8,000 at current prices. Kinda like an engine swap, you can either economically justify it or not.

 

I think, guys, that your politics again decide everything for you. They will help to increase the cost of gasoline because the oil magnates should not lose their billions. Moreover, that the oil magnates and American politics - often the same people. They would send taxpayer money to develop hybrid engines - you approve it and pay, because the petrol will be a luxury. They invent a huge tax for "not hybrid" cars, because you have to love hybrids.
All of this has already advertised. Very active forming public opinion. But do not panic. The American economy is based on domestic demand. I'm sure Uncle Sam will print a lot of new green pieces of paper and find a way to shove them in your pockets.
