FF,

Changing banks sounds like a plan to me.

I'd do it too if I ran into that situation.

but i called the bank today and all they had to say was; "yeah we made a mistake, keep an eye on your account as it may happen daily until the check clears." then they hung up!! no sorry, no my fault no kiss my a$$, nothing.......... so as soon as it clears im pulling all the funds and switching banks. just not to 5/3, they are the devil.
WTG , I did that a while back, Bank could not find why funds kept vanishing from my account, they even balanced my checkbook and found no errors but still over $600 off from the account. Dont ask me how but they could not figure it out. I took my $30K savings account and moved banks. Just make sure you let them know you are changing banks and Why, that way maybe if they pull down their pants they will see some daylight

I'm curious where the update to me. It sounds to me that becasue he had 2K in the bank. They put a bank hold on this account for double the amount. Which in his case it left a neg 38k. Either the check went bad the bank just put a hold for double the amount in case the check did not go through. 11 banking days is a long time to hold the check.

For everyone's reference its better to get a large check thats either certified. Which is a one day hold. Or just got a wire in the account. Swift is next day. Fed wire is the same day.

they never really said why the balance came up negative like that. they only told me to keep an eye on my account because it may keep happening on a daily basis until the check clears? sound extremely odd to me. its not as if i've even touched that money yet. unfortunately sallie mae will not send a certified check or do a direct deposit. lol, matter of fact this is the 2nd check we've been waiting on as they sent the first one to "p.o. box"... i mean that literally, they did not fill out anything and everytime we called in to see whaty the hold up was they had no idea why the check was delayed. They didnt find the screw up until the p.o. kicked it and sent it back to them.
They actually sent it to "p.o. box, uniontown, ky" no name, no box number, nada...

Congratulations, fantomfreke! Many people never recover from that much credit card debt and chose bankruptcy as an out. Of course, we all end up paying for that.

I use my credit card daily but pay it off every month. It takes a lot of discipline, escpecially since I grocery shop at a Super Wal-Mart that sells everything I dream of. I couldn't imagine not using credit cards, especially to buy gas. I hate having to go in the store to pay and don't want to carry that much money around!

thanks, it has not been easy at all. i thought i was good a couple of years ago, i paid off the cards with a loan but didnt close the accounts. big mistake, wound up running the cardas back up while having a loan. scrimped and paid off all of them and as they were paid off, closed the accounts. now my debiot card is the only card i have.

They tried to buy 1200.00 worth of stuff online but the merchant becane suspicious and called Visa who froze the account.Visa said this is rather common, Don't show your cards untill the last second before you scan in the numbers,, I was lucky but a lot of others haven't been!!!!!!!
