09 Malibu vs 59 Bel Air

Shame what happed to the 59, but shows how far technology has come. So much for the though of old cars being built like tanks...

That's wrong on so many levels. Shame on the person who sold that car to them!

One of the biggest improvements that does not get mentioned much is automobile glass. When I was in high school one of the prettiest girls in our class was disfigured by the glass in an old late 50's Cadillac after a head on collision. She had severe facial scars that the best surgery at the time could barely do anything to hide.

Watching that crash just made me feel very lucky that in my nearly 40 years of driving I've never had anything close to that.......

I saw that on the news about a week ago... I meant to post it, but forgot. Glad someone else did. Such a shame....and it looked like such a nice car too! You can smash all the Lambo's and whatnot, I don't care... But when you smash an old car that can't be duplicated, that hurts...

But yeah...I thought old cars were tough. Maybe against other old cars. What about those old accident photos where there is barley any damage to the cars, but the people died? Must be two tanks together are stronger...

I can't even begin to explain how I feel about what they did. I have wanted a 59 Impala my whole life and the closest I've gotten are a 62 Caddy SDV and a 58 Caddy SDV, and to see them trash a perfectly good car like that, I don't even know what to say. 1 thing I did notice however, it appears that the 59 did not have an engine, and I'm not pretty sure the Malibu didn't either.

If you notice on the high speed, a huge dust cloud that comes out from the 59. Also, the grill gets pushed in way to far. So it was only a rust bucket with no motor. They just made it look pretty. Paint may have been all that was holding it together....

So if it has no motor, it's basically a fake. Because that isn't what would happen...since you wouldn't be driving with no motor....

It's still a lot of metal to hit. The Impact would have pushed the motor into the firewall and crushed the front passengers even worse. Malibu would have probably suffered more also.
