Here ya go. I had to look it up as I had no clue about it.

44 Corvettes were manufactured with a 1983 VIN numbers but none were released to the public as official production vehicles. These 1983 Corvettes were prototypes, alpha test vehicles, and beta test vehicles used to sort out production details while others were assigned to engineering evaluation and crash testing. A few were part of a press introduction at Riverside Raceway in California, December 1982. The 1983 Corvette resembled the newly redesigned 1984 model (4th generation Corvette). All were destroyed except one, VIN# 1G1AY0783D5100023 (white with medium blue interior), L83 350ci, 250HP V8, 4-speed Automatic transmission and was retired to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It is owned by GM. It was saved from destruction by a few forward looking individuals who recognized the need to retain one 1983 Corvette for posterity.

Maybe GM hired the Taurus designer to design this. That would be a first lol.

I was actually thinking Camary but I think you are more correct.

Hopefully GM will do a SS model with a V8 or turbo 3.6L to compete with the SHO. For right now I would think the SHO would eat this Impala alive.

Nice looking Chevy. No Ford there. It looks like a Buick and Cruz mated while using a Volt as a sex toy. Bout time the style changed to keep up with the times.

It's okay. So to differentiate this from the Buick/Cadillac GM decides not to offer this with all-wheel drive. Um, ok.

First thing I thought is they made a 4 door camaro.
I like its looks but I feel it takes away from how unique the camaro looks now.

Well they "have" to price it like a Chevy, not a Caddy or Buick, so some cost cutting and fewer features like AWD has to be expected.

You have to remember GM's price and brand structure established by Alfred Sloan in 1920. Chevrolet at the bottom and Cadillac at the top.

Current Impala starts at $26,000 with the LTZ at $30,000. Both the Taurus and the Charger offer AWD Models starting at $30,000. So in your words Chevrolet can't compete with Ford and Dodge. Another example why GM doesn't need 3 car brands.
