2014 Stingray SC610 by Callaway

The folks at Callaway have taken the new 'Vette from fast to faster still, no pricing yet, but it'll probably make the $75,000 Camaro seem cheap.

"For over 25 years, the engineers at Callaway have produced high performance, specialist versions of the Chevrolet Corvette. With a philosophy that valued in-house component design and development in lieu of bolting on brand names, the Callaway team forged its own unique path. Utilizing no-compromise materials, advanced manufacturing techniques and a form-follows-function design approach, Callaway's association with Corvette modification flourished over the years. From production of the RPO B2K Callaway Twin Turbo Corvettes built under contract for Chevrolet, to Corvette-based "C12″ and "C16″ supercars, to impressive road racing successes in World Challenge, Le Mans, ADAC GT Masters and FIA, Callaway enjoys a very special bond with Corvette.

For 2014, the Chevrolet team has introduced the most sophisticated, most feature-packed Corvette to date. Since Spring of 2013, during Callaway's earliest days evaluating the "C7″ at the GM Tech Center, we knew that we were witnessing something very special. Direct fuel injection, continuously variable valve timing and advanced engine management control architecture were just some of the techniques added for the 2014 model. The new features help allow the Callaway-modified LT1 to produce over 600 horsepower with flawless transition into and out of positive manifold pressure. Fuel economy is practically unchanged from stock as active fuel management and modulated supercharger valving sense operating conditions and respond accordingly.

This year, the Callaway Corvette supercharger has several new features. Eaton's TVS four-lobe, high helix rotor pack is retained for its high efficiency, OEM-certified quality and service-proven reliability. However, Callaway's new supercharger housing and manifold have been completely redesigned for improved airflow and a new intercooler configuration reduces charge air temperature. Now front-driven, the new supercharger design extends through the hood for 2014, framed by a Callaway Carbon hood surround panel and integrated underhood air extractor.

No one-off tuner cars here, all Callaways are assembled to precise engineering specifications by our expert technicians. That's one reason why Callaway can provide the most comprehensive standard warranty among all specialty manufacturers, and an optional 5 year/100,000 mile Extended Powertrain Service Contract. It's also why organizations like NADA include Callaway as its own marque in their price guides. Like all Callaway cars and trucks, Callaway Corvettes are sold by a select group of Authorized Callaway/Chevrolet Dealers, the best dealers in the business.

During the summer of 2013, Callaway Competition won the ADAC GT Masters championship and Chevrolet authorized Callaway exclusive rights to construct and homologate Corvette C7R GT3 race cars for FIA competition.

The new SC610 Package will be available starting in spring of 2014 and will be priced at $22,995 on top of the base Corvette Stingray price.

Source: www.topspeed.com

MSRP of $51,000 (source Chevy.com)

So, if you add those two together you get a ~$73,995 Corvette Stingray by Callaway..

To be honest this is a very disappointing offering from a company like Callaway. They have a direct injection v8 with all the latest tech to work with and they only could muster 610hp and 556tq?

Last years ZR1 had more performance and power than this car. It was more expensive sure but it was made by GM and not a company KNOWN for building incredible super cars.

I was reading down the page from the ZR1 and found this. Wow I would have so wanted to do this if I had the money

By your own hands

Z06, ZR1 and 427 Convertible owners have the option of taking part in the Corvette Engine Build Experience for an additional fee†. Each LS7 and LS9 engine is hand built by a skilled craftsman from beginning to completion†. Participants in the program travel to GM’s Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan and assemble their Corvette engine under the supervision of a skilled craftsman. The only program of its kind, it allows owners to take an active role in the build of their Corvette. After helping to build your own engine, make your Corvette even more of a personal statement with more than 50 available dealer-installed Genuine Corvette Accessories. All are designed to enhance the appearance or extend the functionality of your Z06. To order your accessories visit your local dealer.

I don't think it's a matter of "all they could muster". Although I agree it should have been more, seeing as the new Z06 is supposed to be pushing 625+. I remember seeing a Hotrod(?) magazine article with the Lingenfelter Z06, Hennessey Viper 1000, and a few others. I forget what kind of power the Vette was putting down, but it was twin turbo, and, before they had oil problems, was actually faster than the Hennessey. Why they would only do 625 is beyond me, but i'm sure they could've done a lot more if they had wanted.

I read this article with the same thoughts as 07azhhr and wondered about the HP rating. I thought maybe that might be "at the wheels" rated, which obviously makes a difference. At the crank could be close to 100 more HP.

But when you look at the list of "add-ons" it's a blower, exhaust and intake (and probably a tune).....the rest is cosmetic. That's a large amount of money for chrome name tags and such.

Hell, the aftermarket Edlebrock e-Charger kit for the Vette is about $7500 (plus install, if you can't do it) and that gives you almost 600 HP with a canned tune. And you get a real sleeper with very little blower "whine" and the stock hood.

I do know Callaway and they do build some nice "stuff". But, IMO, this is not up to their image, if the numbers are correct.

The supercharger even is the same one used in the ZR1 I linked to and Callaway said that they modified it to be better. The term all they could muster was probably incorrect yes but they did this much power from the 6.0l in 07 and that was older technology. Perhaps and hopefully it is BHP and not crank HP like you were thinking Snoopy.
