360 vs. PS3...

So, I don't have a game console, and I haven't had one since my GameCube a couple years ago. I'm about to buy one tonight I think, and I wanted to hear some input from people who have played both systems. I have only played the 360 thus far, but I've heard good things about the PS3.

What I need to know is just basic info, like which is better in graphics, games, accessories, and so on and so forth.

Thanks in advance peeps!

We've had a PS2 for years and recently got a Wii.

We will never get a 360 because I despise Microsoft so much (and the QC issues)

The PS3 is still too expensive IMO and there are still not enough PS3 specific games to warrant the investment. Lack of the dual shock controllers is another issue I have with it, but I think I read that they are working to bring it back.

If anything, we'll probably pick up another PS2.

I have the Xbox 360, and do a little bit of of online gaming, from everybody i've talked to online, 1. Xbox has better graphics on most games, 2, Xbox live (online gaming) is much better than PS3, and only reason for the price difference is the PS3 comes with Bluray disk player, and Xbox you have to buy the HD DVD player Optional, I enjoy my 360 very much.

I have both plus the Wii. Got Xbox 360 when Halo 3 came out. Ps3 has been collecting dust ever since.

Graphics about same ps3 might be tad more
Games Xbox 360 more abundt games right now and Halo 3 course PS3 has couple great exclusives Rachet and Clank is suppose to be awesome on PS3 havent played it yet though.
Accessories PS3 because of bluetooth only reason otherwise same
PS3 has blu-ray but I found out afterwards not all hd tvs will work with PS3 thru HDMI cause of HDCP. My sony is one of them, go figure. Another fact of PS3 is that colleges are using them for supercomputers by networking them together. There is not a game out yet that has touched the potiental of PS3. PS3 uses blu-ray discs for games they are 25 gb while xbox use dvd 9gb.

yep, serious I called and complained especially since the whole reason i got a lcd hdtv was to play ps3 in high def. Call didnt do anything or I dont get anything from it. It sucks cause most if not all tvs don't say if they are hdcp-hdmi capable.

Yea. I think I'm leaning more towards the 360 Elite. I have been told I don't need the 120GB HD, but that's not the main reason I'm getting it. It's black

I've played HALO 3 and Gears of War on 360, and both had awesome graphics on a rather crappy television (which I am also thinking about upgrading at the same time ).

The BluRay and HD-DVD players don't really make a difference to me. The PS3 is overpriced and overrated in my opinion, with a lack of games, and does not really warrant any reason good enough for me to buy it. The only thing I didn't know about it is how the graphics were and what is the playing experience like.

Okay.. I got a new (unrelated) question, but i'll just post it here.

I am looking at a new TV as well, and I think I've narrowed it down to two. But I'll state my dilemma first. I don't know much about High Definition and picture quality. The cheaper one, which is $1000, is a Samsung 50" DLP Rear projection, with 720p resolution and 2500:1 contrast ratio. The more expensive one, which is $1600, is a Samsung 50" DLP Rear projection as well, but with 1080p resolution and a 10000:1 contrast ratio, which I'm guessing is going to be quite a noticeable difference. I've read reviews and seen the more expensive one in action, and it has great picture quality.

Link to the cheap one:

Link to the better one:

Should I get the better one, or will it not be so noticeable a difference if I save $600?

Thanks again!

Go with the 1080P. You won't be disappointed. I got a JVC 61 incher this past January and it's fully loaded 1080P, 3 HDMI ports, etc. And releated earlier in your thread, I have the PS3 and love it. The graphics are totally awesome on full Hi-Def. Picked up Guitar Hero 3 last weekend. It hasn't been off at all except for me to go to work I also have a PSP which will work with your PS3 through wi-fi and you can use the PSP as an extra controller for the PS3. That's my
