50% Recycled Oil + Valvoline = New Product
Hit or bust? Valvoline hopes hit: Valvoline introduces NextGen recycled motor oil; now, who wants it?
There are two things I don't buy for the car that are recycled: retreaded tires and re-refined oil. Since I use Mobil 1, I doubt there is going to be a recycled oil that I would consider that would measure up. As for recaps, one word: dangerous!
I think it's a "neat" idea and probably would use it if I didn't use a synthetic oil in all my cars. Of course, I would need to see it on GM's approved lubricant list
. However, at one time, GM did have an advisory indicating they did not support the use of recycled oil. I do believe in this technology and the explanation appears to be what I was told years ago. Is it true.....?????....who knows?
Didn't aircraft, not long ago, use recycled oil?

Nothing new here. As an Amsoil dealer, I have tried to sell local municipalities & county government offices the benefits of better oil. I get the same answer from each & every one of them "we buy our oil from the state contract". This oil is usually re-refined waste oil sold as cheap as possible. As a taxpayer, I shudder to actually see them using this crap in construction machinery worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, there is so much more at stake than to be chincy on the maintenence end.
