Rock auto : I bought a remanufactured GM Geniune starter to make a preventive replacement of my old starter for this winter. I paid the price for the GM Geniune starter but received the ACDELCO Gold relabeled with the serial number 3231642. I did not like this buying experience. I am sure this ACDELCO GOLD replacement is a good starter and will last a long time, but I paid the extra price to get the GM Geniune part as I want to keep my HHR as original as possible.
The starter I received is visually exactly the same as the 3362145A. This is what I received :

Who do you think makes GM parts? Not GM itself.
GM used to own ACDelco until the bankruptcy.
Why worry about the label on a reman part? That is not what came in the car. You don't even know what car the core came from.
If I would have ordered the cheaper ACDELCO GOLD I would have received the exact same part just labeled a different number ? Means my money is being stolen.
Rockauto is a website. Various vendors sell parts on the website.
Agree not quite an amazon but various suppliers move inventory through rockauto I'm almost certain. No RockAuto is a company that sells car parts from facilities all over the USA , a great company to deal with and one of our site’s sponsors.
back in the early days of the company maybe they were warehousing everything in their own facilities. Doesn't seem like that now.
Great company an appreciate the sponsorship here.
Analogy to a "US" made car. That 63 split window 'vette was "All" American. AC Delco geniune GM USA parts by GM owned and controlled in Detroit.
Today's automobiles a conglomerate of parts made in various countries and partially assembled there or sometimes all here.
Unless your concourse judging show vehicle, an AC Delco part that fits a HHR is as GM original as you can get I'd imagine.
I suppose you could take the starter in it now and rebuild that core (if you can find a shop that still rebuilds things) with all dealer purchased parts.
Does RockAuto offer a "geniune" GM starter at $X price and the AC delco at another price $ ?
Same shipping location when added to cart?
