Rock auto : I bought a remanufactured GM Geniune starter to make a preventive replacement of my old starter for this winter. I paid the price for the GM Geniune starter but received the ACDELCO Gold relabeled with the serial number 3231642. I did not like this buying experience. I am sure this ACDELCO GOLD replacement is a good starter and will last a long time, but I paid the extra price to get the GM Geniune part as I want to keep my HHR as original as possible.
The starter I received is visually exactly the same as the 3362145A. This is what I received :
if you recheck the GM Genuine part listing it basically tells you you're getting an AC Delco part... it says "Delco series PG260D" on the 2nd line, meaning it's an AC Delco remanufacture...
Honestly, it's a non issue except for spending too much money.... Check out the AC Delco section on this page: https://www.genuinegmparts.com/chevy-parts where they note: "ACDelco is the true General Motors’ Original Equipment parts brand for Chevrolet." Even buying direct from GM the only remanufactured starter is an AC Delco Gold starter... That's because GM does not remanufacture anything. The difference in pricing is probably because they're coming from different warehouses.

This can't be the case. The falsely advertised GM Geniune starter is pricier regardless of the warehouses. This alone indicates fraud in listing in order to steal money from customers. You pay the extra prices because it says GM Geniune, not because of the warehouses.
Please find me a falsely advertised GM Geniune part costing less than the ACDELCO.
RockAuto itself will not offer any price adjustment or refund because it claims having no control over manufacturer supply chains. Well, RockAuto knows there are fraudulent listings on their website and won't do anything about it. $$$$$$$
I thumb them down, and ask everyone directly or indirectly involved in a fraudulent transaction to explicitly tell the buyer he is getting his money stolen. This should be a pinned topic at the very least.
Like RJ said earlier, you’re complaining to the wrong folks. 1st post with the complaint was some good info. Still b****ing about it 3 pages later here is a bit much.
Am I hallucinating? I swear I typed 2 posts explaining what RA is.
You chose the vendor to buy from. The advertisements were not from RA they were from vendors using the RA website.
It is their fault that you chose the more expensive option. You had several to choose from.
THEY ARE REBUILT by many different suppliers FOR not BY ACDelco/GM, it doesn't even say "from a GM core". How in the world, would you think a rebuilt part is "Genuine OE". They take a core of the same specs as the one that was installed at the factory and rebuild it. The core might come from a KIA or Ford or Lada or Skoda. Remanufactured means "not a part used as Original Equipment".
Your complaint is totally baseless on many levels.
