Advice on MSE from Microsoft vs Norton

My Norton subscription expires this weekend and I have been looking at this free spyware/virus protection. Anyone have any knowledge of it? Here is a link.

Don't have any experience with that anti-virus Brad...but upon advice from several members here awhile back, we've been using AVG's free anti-virus. Been working flawlessly ever since!

ditto. avg is a good product. Updates daily and you can schedule daily scans. Plus it does malware and has a thing called link scanner for your sketchy websites you may visit.

Avast here also.....

A quick look at the Microsoft product, and it seems to rely heavily on Windows Updates..

I really don't like to download ALL of the updates available. I wonder how much
these will affect the products functionality.

I was a very good PC tech for a few years.
Then I went into carpentry.
When I eventually needed a tech I found one on CL that's way better than I ever was.
He insisted I use AVG Free.
It finds/kills many virii that Nort & McCaffee don't.
I've been using it for years and insist that my non-technical friends use it.
