I had to something very similiar a few months back. Pretty much did the same as you except I purchased a clean version of Vista verses loading all that preloaded crapit came with initially. Plus it gave me a free Win7 upgrade.

My system is faster that it was the day I bought it now. I can't wait to get the Win7 installed.

I've got weekly backup's and cleanup's running automatically.

Yea, we have to manually do back-ups.. But still need done (learned that the hard way, long ago) & we are set for auto-clean ups.

But as far as a "clean version Vista" no-comprenday senior ?
